#1 Anxiety Tapping Mistake - Plus, 7 Key Questions to Ask

We all experience some anxiety from time to time, but for most, it is not severe and considered to be an actual disorder.
This more common form is fairly easy to soothe and calm using a variety of self help methods, including basic EFT tapping i.e. the EFT Basic
Recipe. However, when using the Emotional Freedom Techniques or EFT for an anxiety disorder i.e. PTSD, panic disorder, social phobias,
generalized and OCD, the #1 critical tapping mistake is... trying to tap it away!
This may not make a lot of sense right now, but when we try to banish or rid our self of this type of problem with tapping, results can
be poor, short lived and things can even get worse! Anxious feelings that are more serious in nature need to be handled differently
when it comes to applying the EFT Tapping Technique. Also, it is very important to seek the guidance and advice of a health care
professional before using any self help method, including EFT Tapping!
So... What's the Solution?
We can greatly improve our success rate, by doing some investigation and question asking first. It is very important
to find out more about the purpose or job of our anxiety and the uncomfortable, sometimes even unbearable symptoms that
accompany it.
This may sound odd, but for an effective, long lasting EFT anxiety approach, we need to assume that all parts of us have a
positive purpose or intention. Even if the outcome and symptoms (heart palpitations, sweating, shortness of breath,
dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, digestive problems) are unpleasant and disrupt our life.
It is important to understand that many times, our subconscious or body-mind has a higher intention or goal around a situation than
we are aware of. However, it doesn't mean that our body is making the most resourceful or best choice for us.
Bottom line, if we fail to understand more about what is going on underneath our anxious feelings, it will be difficult,
if not impossible to shift them permanently with EFT tapping.

Preparing Yourself Before Asking the Questions
Before proceeding with these questions, take a moment to center yourself and focus inward. Close your eyes and slow down.
Meditate for a few minutes or just do some gentle breathing and ground your energy before you continue. My Tap and Breathe

3 - If my anxiety had a job what would it be?

6 - What is your purpose?
7 - What do you need?
Not Getting Any Answers?
If you feel that you are being blocked from obtaining this information, or get any signs of anxiety when you are doing this investigation -
take a few moments to send a message inward that your intentions are not to get rid of this 'part ', but to learn how to work with it so you can function in a more normal,
balanced and healthy way.
You may also want to consider working with an experienced and skilled EFT tapping buddy or a trained EFT practitioner because it can be challenging
to ask and answer the questions at the same time. Sometimes it is difficult to get into the relaxed place needed to communicate with our
subconscious or inner mind without the help of another. Lastly, it is very beneficial to work with a trusted 'other' who can hold a healing space for us
to work in.
What I am Not Saying
I want to make it very clear, that what I am *not* saying is that we shouldn't use EFT for anxiety or it's symptoms if we are not going
to do some question asking/inner investigation first. What I am saying is, if our intention is to simply calm and soothe our self using
the EFT Basic Recipe, Choices Method or other simplified tapping techniques like the ones described in my audio;

then we need to be much more aware of our intention/energy.

When tapping on more serious/chronic issues like this, the most important thing to remember is to have a 'friend' not 'foe' attitude.
To communicate a willingness to work 'with' not 'against'. When we push against and try to rid ourselves of anxious feelings without
trying to first understand and work with them, we can trigger some very uncomfortable side effects.
So, it is important to seriously consider gathering some information to gain insight and clarity from questions such as these. Then,
it becomes much easier to effectively resolve the problem long term by discovering and tapping on specific events/memories and
'root cause(s)' using more advanced tapping methods such as the EFT Movie Technique, Tell a Story Technique or highly effective
newer tapping approaches which is one of my favorites;
EFT Matrix Reimprinting.
