Here at the EFT Technique Help Center, I have compiled, in alphabetical order, highlights of some of the most popular EFT Methods developed by
EFT founder, Gary Craig. I have also included, several other tapping tools created in the last few years by various EFT Experts and Masters. Enjoy!
A to Z EFT Techniques
Borrowing Benefits - This is a powerful EFT tool where we tap along with another person. First, we write down or think about our specific issue and
get a SUD's level on the intensity. Then, we simply follow along with exactly what the other is tapping on and saying. Borrowing Benefits can be done one-on-one,
in a group, watching a DVD, on the phone or listening to an audio. Afterwards, we check back on our own SUD's level. Most of the time, the intensity of our specific
problem has gone down significantly, even though our issue was different!
Basic Recipe - The EFT Basic Recipe is all someone needs to know in order to apply mechanical or basic EFT tapping. It’s the approach that Gary Craig first
introduced in the early nineties. In the last few years, most in the EFT community including Gary himself, now use the
EFT Shortcut Method
. However, it's still good to
know the Full EFT Basic Recipe which consists of the following elements; 1) The Intensity Level (SUD’s rating) 2) Setup Process 3) The Tapping Sequence 4) The Nine
Gamut 5) The Tapping Sequence 6) Check Intensity (repeat setup, sequence and nine gamut if needed).
Chasing the Pain - When doing EFT, pain can often move to a different location in the body. We might start tapping on a sore shoulder and the pain
ends up moving to several different locations in the body. When we chase the pain, we do just that, we follow and tap on the pain or tension as it changes location,
intensity and/or sensation. It's important to remember to be open and curious, to use our intuition/guidance and to let the pain lead us. Many times, this technique will
expose a limiting belief, an emotional issue or even a root cause. This supports the idea that pain is often a physical manifestation of our stressful thoughts and feelings.
Choices Method - This powerful variation to the EFT process, known as the EFT Choices Method, was developed by EFT Master Dr. Patricia Carrington.
It adds positive affirmations to the setup and/or the sequence statements. Here is an example; "Even though I am feeling helpless and vulnerable right now… I choose to
feel calm and confident." For some powerful examples of choices statements check out section 3 of this interesting and extremely helpful article:

Imaginary or Mental Tapping - We can use our imagination to do what's called mental tapping. Without touching the points, we just imagine in our minds
eye that we are performing the EFT setup and the sequence. This method is just as effective, and proves the power of our intention. Mental tapping is great to do before
falling asleep when we are too tired to lift up our arm. Also, mental tapping can be done in front of others without them even knowing it!

Movie Technique - EFT founder, Gary Craig constantly reminds EFT users to be as specific as possible when
tapping. We need to get specific so we can tune into the energy or vibration of the issue at hand. I've heard EFT Master,
Carol Look say, "If we don't bring the document up on the computer screen, we can't edit it." Being too general or global (as Gary calls it)
can produce poor results, or no change will happen at all!
The EFT Movie Technique is a great tool for getting specific because we are making a mental movie of a memory/past event.
It is less likely we will go global when we use specifics such as; a title, start time, end time, plot and characters. As we (or our client)
mentally runs the movie, we tap on each scene or time the emotional intensity goes up. It is important to rerun the movie and test to
see if the negative energy has been successfully discharged.
Some (especially those who are new to EFT tapping), find it difficult to do the Movie Technique by themselves. In this case, one can use the
Tell a Story / Write a Letter
Technique. Many find this 'story/letter' tapping method easier to use and it gets very good results without the help of a
tapping buddy or EFT practitioner.
Personal Peace Procedure - Gary Craig realized how important is was to work with our stressful and negative
memories from the past in order to transform our mental, emotional and physical health and well-being in the present. To help us work
through these memories, he created and EFT Tapping process called the Personal Peace Procedure. It involves tapping on one memory
per day with the EFT Movie Technique (see above) until we have tapped on and reduced the emotional intensity of the lion's share of
our most negative past experiences. Gary said if we did this procedure consistently, that in six months to a year we could dramatically
transform our life for the better. This became a very popular and powerful process which has helped change the lives of many, many
people around the globe!
