Sometimes we can get so completely overwhelmed and caught up in our emotions, that it's hard to stop or even remember
to do a few rounds of EFT!
In this article, I’ll introduce several easy, fast ways to do EFT. Simple Tapping Techniques (STT’s) are easy to learn and easy to remember to do, even under stress! Basically, with STT’s we continue with what we are experiencing i.e. fretting, worrying, feeling anxious, stressing out, anger, feeling sad, guilty etc. and we just add some very simple tapping to it. There’s no SUD’s level (0 - 10 intensity) to discover, no set up to do, no EFT phrases to figure out. We just need to notice that we are feeling stressed, angry, down or ‘out-of-sorts’ and tap continuously at the same time we are feeling these uncomfortable emotions.Tapping ‘In-the-Moment’ is Very Powerful!By applying simple techniques like these right when we are experiencing stressful emotions, we can become much more aware of when and why we are feeling off balance -- And noticing that we are ‘off’, reminds us to do something to help ourselves feel better. This is an extremely beneficial habit pattern to develop!We’re addressing the uncomfortable energies the moment they surface. This is important because we are making a decision to shift our energetic trend towards a more positive direction. It's a wonderful form of emotional self-care, and we are learning to soothe ourselves without using food, substances, activities or other people! Here Are 4 Easy STT’s to Try... Right Now!1 - Tap on Upper Leg (Thigh) Just Above KneeI discovered this STT by accident. During a stressful conversation with my mother, I unconsciously started tapping on my upper leg. I was holding the receiver with my left hand and with the finger tips of my right hand I tapped continuously on my thigh just above my knee.In a few seconds, I was very calm. I went from feeling tense and wanting my mother to stop talking, to a more peaceful, relaxed me! I was better able to listen, without impatience and judgment. To my utter amazement, she stopped talking shortly after I started to tap. Then she asked me how *I* was doing. “Wow!” I thought… “This stuff really works! I am tapping on me and my mother is being magically transformed!” (wink) After discovering this method, I hopped on the internet to find out what meridian ran through my upper leg just above my knee. I found out that this subtle energy path connects to the stomach and solar plexus -- that stimulating it has a calming affect and also helps to ground our body and reduce anxiety. The perfect antidote for a stressful telephone conversation with my mom... wow! ;) We can do this tapping method on our upper leg/thigh almost anytime, anywhere! It a great one to use in a traffic jam, on public transit, on an airplane or waiting for someone who’s running late. We can tap on our upper leg under the table at a stressful business or family meeting. In public, we can tap under a coat, jacket or bag that's sitting on our lap!2 - Karate Chop on the Table EdgeHere’s another helpful SST that can be used during a telephone conversation. Sitting down at a table, take the karate chop point of the hand we’re not holding the receiver with and lightly tap it on the edge of the table. Stimulating this acupuncture point helps us connect to the present moment… which is very helpful if we find our self disconnecting or numbing out.3 - Single Handed or One Hand TappingThis technique was introduced to the EFT community by Dr. David Lake from Australia. He had great success teaching it to a client with severe anxiety and Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).David’s client was able to make some big shifts in just two EFT sessions by adding this simple method of tapping to her daily ‘check the house before leaving’ routine. Which by the way, she was able to reduce from 2 to 3 hours down to 10 to 15 minutes! Although, she did have 6 additional EFT sessions with David working on deeper emotional issues. However, Dr. Lake credits a good part of her success to the following technique which is by tapping using only one hand! Use the thumb of either hand to tap on or just press the points on each finger of that same hand. For the left hand, palm down, the thumb would tap or press on the right side of each fingernail. In public, this technique is easy use and hide from others. We can simply hold our hand down at our side and tap or press away! Question: What is the sound of one hand tapping? :)4 - Collar Bone PointThis has already become a ‘one point’ favorite for many a seasoned EFT'er.When I am anxious or stressed, I like to tap this point standing up or moving around. Tapping on the collar bone point and walking is a fast way to calm down. If we’re going to pace, we might as well do some tapping! In Chinese Medicine, the collar bone point is connected to the adrenals. So, tapping on this spot can really reduce stress levels and helps us to feel more grounded, balanced, calm and centered!Let Me Know Your ResultsI hope you benefit from learning about these EFT Simple Tapping Techniques.
